Ultimate London Packing Guide for Spring
My London Packing Guide for Spring
Updated Jan 15, 2026 (As I prepare for my annual Spring trip)
We've traveled to London every spring for the past several years, so my packing list for a trip to London includes several key items to ensure comfort and practicality during our travels. Links provided here are only the things that we use and recommend. Some of them are affiliate links and if you use the link to make a purchase, we receive a small commission (at no extra cost to you) in order to provide you this and other great travel resources. See our disclosure.
I packed everything into a US-approved size carry-on and carried this backpack with my laptop and other essentials for the plane. Keep in mind that if you are flying to other places in Europe on the same trip, the carry-on size allowance is slightly smaller, so you may have to check it.
I also use a crossbody similar to this or a Longchamp Bag that would fit into the backpack so I would only have 2 bags to deal with.
To keep my packing organized I love these packing cubes.
I also use this padded tech bag in my carry on to keep my headphones, kindle, remote charger, and anything else I want close at hand on the plane.
Here's what I took and recommend:
- Layers: As the weather in London can be quite changeable, it's important to bring layers that can be easily added or removed depending on the temperature. Pack a mix of t-shirts, long-sleeved shirts, and a sweater or light jacket. On our last trip (April, here’s what I brought along). Here's the list and it's all linked here.
- Dressier black leggings
- 2 pairs of jeans in a mix of washes
- 1 casual black leggings
- 1 black travel pants
- Black tee shirt or long sleeve button up
- neutral/cream tee shirt or long sleeve button up
- 3 sweaters in varying weights
- Blazer that could be dressed up or down
- Button up denim shirt
- denim jacket
- trench jacket
- scarf
- gloves
- ski cap
- Rain jacket: London is known for its rainy weather, so a lightweight rain jacket is a must-have item. Look for one that is both water-resistant and breathable.
- Comfortable shoes: Given the amount of walking that is involved in exploring London, it's essential to bring comfortable shoes (almost everyone wears tennis shoes with everything). Choose a pair that provides good support and cushioning and will be ok if they get wet. On our last trip (April) I brought.
- Black Hunter Chelsea rain boots
- Tennis shoes that can be worn with everything - get some ideas here
- Dressier flats - I like Rothy's in a fun Cheetah Print
- Umbrella - Although many hotels in London provide umbrellas for guests, it's always a good idea to bring your own, especially if you plan on spending a lot of time outdoors.
- Small backpack / cross-body: A small backpack or cross-body bag is ideal for carrying essentials like a camera, wallet, and phone. Choose one that is comfortable to wear and has multiple compartments for easy organization. I would bring along a packable shopper bag too as they charge for them in the EU and EK.
- Camera: London is a city with a rich history and plenty of photo opportunities. Make sure to bring a camera to capture all of the amazing sights and experiences.
- Portable Charger - using the GPS constantly and taking pictures can drain your battery and you’ll need it to tap into the tube and get back to your hotel, plus you don’t want to miss out on any pictures.
- Toiletries and Supplements - I love this toiletry bag - i can fit my cosmetic bag into it and it fits into the Nordance backpack as well - just in case I have to check my luggage
- Chargers and a Power Converter Strip We like this one. The Marriott Marble Arch had USB ports which are amazing but you’ll still need the converter for laptops, etc.
